At Preston Rentals, safety isn’t just a priority, it’s a core value of our business. We pride ourselves on presenting the highest quality products and services, taking great care to adhere to OSHA safety standards. This is reflected in the rigorous processes we undertake to determine the safety of our SuperDecks before they go out for rent, while they’re being used on site, and when they are returned. These safe work procedures include thorough inspections of our equipment, on site orientation to teach proper usage, as well as regular maintenance and replacement of parts when required.
In this article, we provide an overview of the processes involved in ensuring our SuperDeck® continues to be amongst the safest equipment on a worksite.
A detailed inspection is undertaken before a SuperDeck® is determined to be ready to go to a new client. A pre-delivery checklist is followed for quality assurance. All parts of the SuperDeck® are inspected to ensure they work correctly, from the doors and side panels right down to identifying if the bolts and nuts show signs of wear or corrosion. Any required maintenance is then undertaken, followed by cleaning as well as repainting if needed.
We adhere to all instructions from the customer’s Safety Manager while on site. When the deck has arrived at the worksite, Preston Rentals’ staff perform an orientation for the client. This is to ensure all personnel know how to safely use the SuperDeck®, including correct installation, lifting, and relocation or removal procedures.
For our SuperDecks, we have a thorough standard operating procedure and safe work method statement. These were developed in accordance with OSHA standards. Both ensure the safe transportation, installation, and usage of the SuperDeck® throughout the rental period.
Once the engineer on site has given approval, Preston Rentals staff (or certified members of the client’s team) then lift the SuperDeck® to the required location and complete safe installation into the building by following the Preston Rentals safe work procedure.
SuperDeck® site safety checklist
A Preston Rentals staff member carries out a site safety inspection before putting the SuperDeck® into service. We then providea copy of this checklist to our client so they can ensure proper usage of the SuperDeck® throughout their rental period, particularly if they will be moving the deck.
For longer rentals, Preston Rentals staff will return to a customer’s site at intervals. A site safety inspection is performed again, with any recommendations implemented by the client.
Equipment return inspection
When a SuperDeck® is returned to us, another inspection is carried out. As with the pre-delivery inspection, a detailed checklist is followed. A staff member goes over the structure of the deck, checking for any damage or missing parts. This is rectified before the SuperDeck® is deemed ready for rent again.
